Subseries in Political Actors (AP)

Political Class (PC)
The Political Class (CP) subseries contains dossiers relating to the parties to which the politicians in contact with the North American diplomatic corps belonged: Brazilian Democratic Movement (MDB); National Renewal Alliance (ARENA); Social Democratic Party (PSD); with the exception of the Broad Front (FA) dossier, whose documents refer to the movement led by Carlos Lacerda.

Students (ES)
The Students (ES) subseries has four dossiers: Demonstrations and Protests (MP); Secondary Students (S) and University Reform (RU). It deals with student marches and demonstrations, protests at universities and repression of student movements, as well as proposals for university reforms.

Working class (CT)
The Working Class (CT) subseries is composed of four dossiers: Repression of Workers (RT); Union Leaders (LS); Strikes (G) and Union Movements (MS). It contains documents on the organization of urban workers; strikes carried out during the dictatorship; contacts between American diplomats and union leaders; as well as arrests, torture and reports of human rights violations of union members and other urban workers during the period.

Catholic Church (IC)
The Catholic Church (IC) subseries is composed of three dossiers: Religious Leadership (L); Complaints and Violations of Human Rights (DDH); and National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB). It contains documents on meetings and contacts between diplomats and leaders of the Catholic Church; the actions of the CNBB during the dictatorship and, especially, complaints about human rights violations that occurred during the period.

Business (E)
The Business (E) subseries has four dossiers: Brazilian Businessmen (EB); Institute of Research and Social Studies (IPES); Foreign Businessmen (EE) and Institutional Act No. 5 (AI5). It contains documents on contacts between American diplomats and Brazilian and foreign businessmen, as well as their assessments and reactions to Brazilian policy, especially to AI-5.

Military (MI)
The Military (MI) subseries has three dossiers: Hard Line (LD); Profiles and Promotions (PP) and Military Politicians (PM). The documents refer to personalities of the Armed Forces in contact with the North American diplomatic corps, as well as information on biographical profiles of officers and their ranks.
