Political Opening (AP)
The Political Opening (AP) subseries is composed of six dossiers: Civil-military relations (RCM); Catholic Church (IC); Intramilitary conflicts (CI); Presidential elections and successions (EP); Human rights (DH); and Economic crisis (CE). It contains documents on reactions to the proposal for political opening from 1974 onwards, as well as reports of human rights violations; resistance by military personnel to the opening; presidential elections and successions that occurred during the period; the economic crisis that began at the end of the 1970s; and the interaction between civilians and military personnel throughout the process of détente.
Intramilitary (IM)
The Intramilitary (IM) subseries belongs to the Political Conflicts (CP) series and is composed of six dossiers: Castelo Branco Government (CB); Costa e Silva Government (CS); Military Junta (JM); Linha Dura (LD), Médici Government (GM) and Brazilian Air Force (FAB). It contains documents referring to conflicts between military groups or between the Three Forces.
Civil-Military Relations (CMR)
The Civil-Military Relations (RCM) subseries contains six dossiers: The 1964 Coup and its antecedents (G64); Castello Branco Government (CB); Costa e Silva Government (CS); Médici Government (GM); General Reports of the Médici Government (RGM) and Geisel Government (GG). It deals with the relationship between civilians and the military throughout the dictatorship, addressing political disputes, the actions of the opposition, and interactions between civilian ministers in the military governments.
