Scope and content
Telegram (Brasília 797) sent by John W. Tuthill to the Embassy in Rio de Janeiro on August 28, 1967. It addresses the agenda, prepared by Lyra Tavares, emphasizing the unity of the Armed Forces; the meeting of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces; debates on foreign policy, among other topics. It is said that the actions carried out on Soldier's Day were a good opportunity to express the unity and role of the Armed Forces in national security; and that the references to the "regrouping" of the Armed Forces indicate the continuity of concerns about subversive threats.
