Gianfranco Caterina

Post-doctoral fellow at the Institute of International Relations at the University of São Paulo (IRI-USP). PhD in History, Politics and Cultural Assets from CPDOC/FGV (2019) in Rio de Janeiro. He was a visiting researcher at the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University (2016). He has a master's degree in Social History from PUC-SP (2012) and a specialization in Economics from EESP-FGV (2014). His doctoral thesis addresses political and economic relations between Brazil and the Soviet Union from 1947 to 1985, focusing on the influence of Soviet modernization on Brazilian political elites, using documents obtained in Brazil, Russia, the United States and Switzerland. His recent productions are permeated by the following themes: anti-communism, Cold War, João Goulart government (1961-64), Brazilian military regime (1964-1985), Brazilian foreign policy, Brazil/USSR relations, economic cooperation and energy.
