NACE CNV

Support Center for Culture and Extension Activities – National Truth Commission Brazil

Integrated into the Dean of Culture and University Extension (PRCEU) of the University of São Paulo (USP) and administratively linked to the USP Institute of International Relations (IRI), the Support Center for the Dissemination of Information about the National Truth Commission – Brazil (NACE CNV-Brasil) aims to collect, systematize and disseminate documents and information corresponding to the activities and report of the National Truth Commission (CNV), which operated in Brazil from May 2012 to December 2014 with the objective to investigate the serious human rights violations that occurred in the country between 1946 and 1988, especially during the period of the military dictatorship that existed between 1964 and 1985.

Constituting a university extension activity, the dissemination of information about the CNV occurs through public access to a database made up of documents available in public and private archives in Brazil and abroad, as well as through academic production carried out at USP and in other university institutions and research centers in Brazil and other countries.

To carry out its activities, NACE CNV-Brasil counts on the support of foreign teaching and research institutions, which make up the nucleus's International Support Council. The coordination of NACE CNV-Brazil is in charge of Prof. Pedro Bohomoletz de Abreu Dallari, Professor of International Law at IRI, who coordinated and reported on the CNV.
